Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. He is descended from the Thatchers of Uffington, England, the same family as Denis Thatcher, husband of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From the description of H.H. In 1853 George Whitworth, a minister in the Ohio Valley, set off for the Western frontier to establish a college that would provide a “good English education and a thorough religious training.” Fifty families joined his mission trek to the Northwest. By the time they reached Oregon, only Whitworth’s family had persisted.
